Selah

Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 September 2026

The short version. What you write in Selah for yourself — your reflections, prayers, gratitude and answered prayers — stays on your phone. Selah has no account and no login, and it never sends any of that anywhere.

Selah downloads its scripture and prompts, and that request tells the server nothing about you. The one thing that ever leaves your phone is a feature request, and only if you choose to send one.

What stays on your device

All of the following is kept in a database on your phone and is never transmitted to us:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also erase everything from within Selah, in Settings.

What Selah sends over the internet

Selah periodically downloads its bank of scripture, prompts and prayers so that the content can be improved without an app update. That request carries no identifier, no device information and no content of yours — it asks for the material and receives it. Selah works offline; the download only refreshes what it already ships with.

The only other thing that ever leaves your phone is a feature request, if you choose to send one — see Feature requests below. Nothing else you write is ever transmitted.

Feature requests

Selah has a feedback board where you can ask for a feature and vote for what other people have asked for. It is the only part of Selah that sends anything away from your phone, and it only does so at the moment you tap Send.

What we receive. The text you type, up to 500 characters, and a random identifier your phone generates for itself the first time you use the board. That identifier is not derived from your device, your accounts or anything about you, and it is not an advertising identifier. Its only purpose is so that one person's vote is counted once.

What we do not receive. Your name, your email address, your location, and nothing you have written anywhere else in Selah — no reflections, prayers, verse progress or app usage. We do not store your IP address.

What becomes public. Nothing you send appears in the app. Requests go to a private queue that only the developer can read. If a request is worth listing, the developer writes the board entry, usually rewording it, so what appears on the board is our text rather than yours and never carries an identifier of any kind. Votes are shown only as a total.

Where it is kept, and for how long. With Supabase, our database provider, in the United States. Board entries are kept for as long as they are useful. Requests that are declined are deleted periodically, and in any case within 90 days of being declined.

Deleting a request you sent. Because requests are anonymous, there is nothing that identifies which one was yours, so there is no self-service deletion — the anonymity is the reason. Email us with the text of your request and we will remove it.

Where a legal basis is required, this is consent, given by tapping Send. You can withhold it simply by not using the board; nothing else in Selah depends on it.

Purchases

Selah's subscription is billed by Apple or Google, who handle payment. Selah does not see or store your payment details.

Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives the purchase and receipt information from the store together with an anonymous identifier generated on your device. That identifier is not your name, your email, or your Apple or Google account — Selah never asks for those and never sends them. RevenueCat uses this to tell the app whether a subscription is active.

Screen time

On iPhone, Selah uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Your usage figures are gathered and displayed by iOS itself inside a sealed view that Selah cannot read. Those numbers never enter the app's own code, and never leave your device.

On Android, Selah reads usage statistics and uses an accessibility service to notice when a guarded app opens, so it can offer you a pause. This is read on the device, used on the device, and stored on the device. It is never uploaded.

Backups

Backing up is optional and off until you turn it on. When you do, Selah writes a copy of your own data into your iCloud Drive, or a folder you choose — storage that belongs to you. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to read it.

What Selah does not do

Children

Selah is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since Selah collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing held about a child either.

Your control

There is no account to close, because there is no account. You can erase everything Selah holds from Settings, or by deleting the app. To cancel a subscription, use Manage Subscription in Settings, which opens your store's own subscription controls.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app.
